Kris Anderson

Founder and Director

The Fusion Soccer Academy is a long standing dream of founder and director, Kris Anderson.  Coach Anderson has been involved in the development of youth talent over the past 18 years in the southern New Jersey area.  Many of Coach Anderson's players have gone on to represent their state ODP, regional ODP, and even youth national ODP programs.  Through his development, players under Coach Anderson's guidance have gone on to Division I, II, and III colleges around the country.  These players have found great success in their soccer lives, as well as their personal lives, in part because of the lessons learned through the sport of soccer, and the commitment necessary to be competitive athlete at the highest level.  These lessons are at the forefront of the Fusion Soccer Academy........Hard Work, Dedication, and the Pursuit of Greatness!

Anderson is a former college coach at both Rutgers University-Camden, where he was the program's head coach, and Arcadia University, where he spent six seasons as the women's soccer assistant coach.   Anderson

has a wealth of soccer experience, both as a coach and a player. After playing four years of scholastic soccer – his first two at Willingboro High School and his last two at Lenape – he played collegiate soccer at one of the NJAC’s powerhouse programs, Richard Stockton College. A center back and marking back with the Ospreys, Anderson played two seasons for Stockton before injuries and his work schedule forced him out of the collegiate game.

Anderson graduated from Stockton in 1998 as a Public Health major, with a concentration in Health Care Administration. He was offered a professional contract with the Eastern Shore Sharks of the USISL, but turned it down and started coaching and training soccer players in South Jersey in 1999. His Youth coaching resume is extensive and boasts some of the best teams and players within the state and region.  His previous youth soccer teams have included  a four-time state semifinalist, a two-time state finalist and a regional quarterfinals.

Anderson joined the Arcadia University women’s program in 2003 as an assistant under new Head Coach Rick Brownell. He helped the Knights qualify for their conference tournament every season, first in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference and later in the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation, also known as the Middle Atlantic Conference. Arcadia won the PAC title and earned an NCAA berth in 2005. The Knights lost in overtime in the 2007 MASCAC Freedom Conference title game.

Anderson has been a personal trainer for numerous State ODP (Olympic Development Program) players, several regional ODP players and a pair of national ODP players. His former players have played at all divisions of NCAA soccer, including one who has won a pair of national titles at the University of North Carolina, as well as a  current NWSL and U23 National Team player.

In the summer of 2021 Coach Kris will be joining the NJ Surf, where he will work with the '06 girls team.  He is also the assistant coach for the WPSL Inter AC, and the head coach for the Inter AC U-21 team WPSL team.

Byron Carmichael

Head Coach / Trainer

The Lumberton, NJ native played his college soccer at Marshall University (1999-2002) where he remains the school’s all-time goalscoring leader, and was elected to Marshall’s athletics hall of fame. He was drafted by the Kansas City Wizards in the sixth round of the 2003 Major League Soccer Superdraft, but ended up playing in the United Soccer Leagues for the Cincinnati Riverhawks of the Pro Soccer League (PSL). After half a season with them, he was transferred to the Wilmington Hammerheads of the PSL. The highlight of his time with the Hammerheads was assisting twice in the club’s 4-1 US Open Cup upset of Major League Soccer’s Dallas Burn (now known as FC Dallas).

After his first professional outdoor season, Carmichael spent the 2003/04 season with the Philadelphia Kixx of the Major Indoor Soccer League before joining Ocean City FC (then known as the South Jersey Barons) in the summer of 2004. That year, he helped the club to their historic undefeated regular season in the PDL, and later returned to the PSL by signing with the Utah Blitzz. Carmichael would help Utah win a championship, by scoring the equalizing goal in the 80th minute of the league title game. The Blitzz would eventually win the game on penalty kicks over the Charlotte Eagles.

After the 2004 season, he returned to South Jersey and helped the club with their move to Ocean City prior to the 2005 campaign. He scored 10 goals and dished out four assists in 2005 and helped the Barons make a run to the third round of the US Open Cup. In 2006, he totaled six goals and four assists and topped that in 2007 with nine tallies and another four helpers. Carmichael also scored the lone goal in Ocean City’s 1-0 upset of Crystal Palace Baltimore (USL-2) in the first round of the 2007 US Open Cup.
